The latest remake series of the anime “Space Battleship Yamato”, “Yamato Forever REBEL 3199”, will begin screening on November 22, 2024, with “Chapter 2: Sortie on the Red Sun”. It has recently been revealed that the father and son will take over the role of Sasha, a popular character played by Keiko Han in the original work “Yamato Forever”, and Megumi Han will play the role in this work.
“Yamato Yo Forever REBEL 3199” is a new interpretation of the elements of the third movie “Yamato Yo Forever” released in 1980, and is reorganized into a series of seven chapters (26 episodes in total), “Space Battleship”. This is the latest work in the Yamato 2199 series. Does the title “3199” refer to a thousand years from now? What kind of secret relationship does Desalium, which appeared as an adversary, have with Earth? The surprise shown at the end of the previous work continues to expand.
In “Chapter 2: Red Sun Sortie”, the huge mobile fortress of Desalium, Grand Reverse, finally lands on the shore of Shinto Bay. Desalium and Holy President Skuldart, who has conquered the Earth, preaches 1000 years of history to the people, saying, “We are you.” They were searching for the “Fragments of Iscandar” in order to change the future of the Earth, which is headed for destruction. Surprisingly, they were not “enemies”.
Meanwhile, the old Yamato fleet crew has arrived at Icarus Observatory, where the new Space Battleship Yamato is waiting. However, after losing Moriyuki, Kodai Susumu is so disappointed that he is in no condition to lead. There was no way for her to know that her beloved Yuki was being cared for by Major Alfon of Desareum… Who exactly is Desalium? And its true purpose. Yamato is now taking off in search of answers to all mysteries.
At the “New Cast Announcement & Completion Announcement Stage Greeting” held at Shinjuku Piccadilly from 19:00 on November 8th, it was announced that the father and son will take over the role of Sasha, a popular character played by Keiko Han in the original work. It was revealed that Megumi Han will play the role.
Sasha is the niece of the main character, Susumu Kodai, and the only blood relative left in Kodai. It will be interesting to see how Megumi Han plays this character, which holds an important key to the future story. Along with the announcement, Sasha’s visuals and the jacket illustration for the 2nd volume of “Yamato yo Forever REBEL 3199” Blu-ray & DVD featuring Sasha and others were also released.
