The anime “Girls Band Cry” will be released on October 3, 2025, “Girls Band Cry (Part 1) Youth Rhapsody” and on November 14, “Girls Band Cry (Part 2)” will be published on October 3, 2025. ‘ will be released. “Girls Band Cry” is an original anime produced by Toei Animation, which was broadcast on television from April to June 2024. The story depicts the protagonist Iseri Nina, who dropped out of high school and moved to Tokyo, and forms the band “Togena Shitogeari” along with Kawaraki Momoka, Anwa Subaru, Ebizuka Tomo, and Rupa, and grows through music. It is attracting attention as a new form of girl band anime, in which the bands of the main characters and real bands are linked together.
The real band “Togena Shitogeari” was formed in 2023 and has been active in live performances while making their debut as a voice actor. This is an unusual achievement for a new band, with five songs ranked simultaneously, including the opening/end theme song for the TV anime that will be on Spotify’s viral charts.
As the anime began airing, it received a huge response on social media, and was explosively popular, reaching the top trending position on X (formerly Twitter) for seven consecutive weeks from episode 7 to the final episode. Furthermore, the cumulative number of Blu-ray & DVD Vol.1 has exceeded 23,000 copies, and following the success of this, it has been decided that a movie version will be produced.
