“Tenho no Sakunahime” TV anime sequel will be produced! Also announced the latest smartphone game and consumer game “Rice is power again!”

It has been decided that a sequel to the TV anime “Tenho no Sakunahime” will be produced. This was announced as part of a project to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the original game, and three new projects will be launched: an anime sequel, a smartphone game, and the latest consumer game.

“Tenho no Sakunahime” is set on Hinoe Island and combines exhilarating combo action to fight the demons that rule the island with simulation elements that deeply reproduce the ancient Japanese rice cultivation process.The catchphrase is “Rice is power!” This is a unique Japanese-style action RPG game.

Since its release in 2020, it has been an unprecedented hit that has been called the “Reiwa Rice Riot,” and has continued to thrill Japan, with cumulative shipments exceeding 1.5 million units worldwide. In July 2024, it was made into a long-awaited TV anime produced by PAWORKS, and was broadcast on TV Tokyo and other channels. It is currently being distributed on various distribution platforms.

The decision to produce a TV anime sequel was announced as part of the “Tenho no Sakunahime” project, which coincides with the 4th anniversary of the original game on November 12, 2024. It has been revealed that three major new projects will be launched: an anime sequel, a smartphone game, and the latest consumer game. Games for smartphones are handled by TOHO Games, a game business label developed by Toho. As for consumer games, the latest work in the series, “Sakunahime Gaiden: Kokorowa and the Gears of the World,” will be produced.

The visuals unveiled at the same time are the three works of the newly launched “Tenho no Sakunahime”. This is a new illustration by Ryudai Murayama, who was in charge of character design for “Tenho no Sakunahime”. In addition, following the announcement, we received comments from Shoji P Soma, line producer of the anime “Tenho no Sakunahime,” and Koichi Naru, the original author of “Tenho no Sakunahime.”
