Live-action “Miruko-chan” will appear in SixTONES’ Kyomoto Taiga as the “mysterious teacher”! The original work by Izumi Asaki is “I think you can see something amazing in a different way than the good ones in the original.”
Welcome back to the I Am Anime website
It has been revealed that SixTONES’ Kyomoto Taiga will be appearing in the live-action film “Miruko-chan,” which will be released on June 6th, 2025. He plays the role of Tono Yoshi, a teacher who has been assigned to the high school that the main character, Miko, attends. Comments have been received from the director and original author Izumi Asaki, including himself.

“Miruko-chan” is a horror comedy manga by Izumi Asaki, which has been viewed by Kadocomi, Niconico Manga and pixiv comics for a total of 90 million views and has sold over 3.3 million copies in Japan.
One day, Miko, a high school girl, suddenly becomes “see” the spirits, and is surrounded by dangerous spirits. Miko’s survival technique was unexpectedly “pretending to see.” Even if a spirit possesses her best friend Hana, or when it’s almost revealed that she looks like her classmate Yuria, she just ignores her all. However, Hana’s situation continues to become more and more abnormal…
The story unfolds as to whether Miko can overcome this crisis by pretending to be invisible.

This film is now being adapted into a live-action film by director Nakamura Yoshihiro. Hara Nanoka, the young actress who has also appeared in the drama series and film “The Favorite Child” and is currently attracting the most attention, has been chosen to play the main character, Yotsuya Miko. The role of Miko’s best friend Yurikawa Hana is Kumada Rinka, who continues to show off her diverse talents as a model and actress, and the role of Jikuredo Yuria has over 7 million followers on social media, and Naena has grown rapidly as an actress.
Yamashita Yuki is also an actor who has appeared in a series of popular films and is still a forceful actor who has been playing the original film character Gondo Akio. Other appearances include Takito Kenichi as Yotsuya Mamoru, a father who is ignored by his daughter Miko, who is about to be of a year, but is warmly watched over her, Takaoka Saki as Yotsuya Touko, a mother who is busy with work every day and has no time, and Hotta Akane as Arai-sensei, the homeroom teacher of Mikoto Hana, who is on maternity leave right before her.

It has been revealed that Kyomoto Taiga from SixTONES will play Toono Zen, a teacher at the high school that Miko attends. Although he is a silent, kind and serious person, he is a mysterious character with a somewhat alien atmosphere. Behind this is a hidden “secret” and the truth becomes clear as the story progresses.
Regarding his appearance in this film, Kyomoto recalls the filming, saying, “It was a difficult role with various backgrounds, so I faced this film many times while shaking the script in my own way,” and commented, “Please enjoy this film, which in a way destroys the concept of horror.” He has hone his acting skills and rich expressiveness through numerous stage plays and video works, and is attracting attention to what he will look like in this film.
Director Nakamura also praised Kyomoto’s abilities, saying, “It’s a really difficult role, so I was thinking about how tone I should go on the first day, but then suddenly he landed at the perfect spot, so I have almost no memory of directing it since then.” Izumi, the original author, met Kyomoto on set, commented, “Izumi, who said, “He was serious when he looked at the script and was taken during filming, and he had a lot of different things to look at during filming, and I felt that he was viewing things in a different way than other people, and that was a little bit of a common sense.”
This work is a pop entertainment work that anyone can enjoy, with the innovative setting in which the protagonist ignores even if they see a spirit. Set in the school, a youth story unfolds with unique characters. I hope you will experience the world on screen, how the existence of Tono Yoshi, played by Kyomoto, brings to the story.
The film “Miruko-chan” will be released in theaters nationwide from June 6th, 2025. For further information, check out the official website and official X (formerly Twitter).
Tono Yoshi: Kyomoto Taiga
This is Kyomoto Taiga, who played Tono Yoshi.
I have experience playing the role of a teacher, but it was also a difficult role with various backgrounds, so I faced this work while shaking the script over and over again.
During the filming period, I was able to play the role with the help of Director Nakamura, who gave me accurate instructions and the very cheerful cast, and I was able to enjoy the performance, and the preview screening I saw the other day was also a very enjoyable time as a single audience member.
Please enjoy this work that in a way breaks the concept of horror.
Original work: Izumi Asaki
Kyomoto Taiga, who plays Tono Yoshi, usually takes a long break between filming, and I never get to know that there is a chance for me to take a single break (I might not have the opportunity to talk), but when I spoke to him because I was excited to visit, he spoke with a friendly conversation, and I was very happy to see that he also read the original work thoroughly.
He was very serious about the script and was taken during the filming, and he had a lot of different things being photographed, so I felt that he was looking at things differently from other people’s perspectives, and that made me feel that there was something a little bit of a good thing.
When I was able to draw Zen in the script, I was nervous to see him portrayed (lol). Also, if you watch the film until the end, you’ll be able to see something amazing in a different way than Zen in the original, so please look forward to it…!
Written and directed by Nakamura Yoshihiro
When Kyomoto took on the role, I was like, “Really?!”, but I was completely relieved to hear that “We’ve made a movie now.”
It’s a really difficult role, so I was thinking about how tone I should go on the first day, but then suddenly I landed at the perfect spot, so I have little memory of the production after that.
What really struck me was that at a certain location, a horde of small insects targeting Kyomoto, who was dressed up in white, clinging to her face and clothes. Even so, he didn’t look a bit disgusting, but he had his limits on how to hold back, and it was really sad that he had his cheeks twitching and convulsions during the actual show… and it’s really frustrating to not be able to give details, as it would be a spoiler, but is it an enemy or an ally? Kyomoto Taiga! I hope you will take this stance and come to the theater.
