The new broadcast slot for the TV anime “ONE PIECE” starting in April 2025 has been revealed. From April 6, 2025, it will be broadcast nationwide at 11:15 p.m. It was also announced that Subaru Kimura will be the voice actor for the role of Franky.
“ONE PIECE” is a boy’s manga by Eiichiro Oda that is being serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump.” The story depicts Monkey D. Luffy, a boy who ate a Devil Fruit and became a rubber man, and his friends as they search for the “One Piece” left behind by Gol D. Roger and aim to become the Pirate King. It quickly gained popularity after its serialization began in 1997, and TV anime began broadcasting in 1999. The comic will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2022, and the cumulative circulation worldwide will exceed 500 million copies.
The TV anime of this work became a hot topic as it was announced that it would enter a “recharging period” in October of this year, and at the same time it was also decided that the broadcast time would be changed from April 2025. The long-awaited new broadcast slot was announced at today’s Jump Festa 2025, where it was announced that the details would be revealed.
From April 6, 2025, the 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning slot, which has been broadcast for about 18 years since October 2006, will be changed to the 11:15 p.m. Sunday night time slot. Furthermore, with the move to the evening time slot, it has also been decided that it will be broadcast on the national network. Expectations are high for the “Egghead edition,” which will be restarted in a new broadcast slot after a “recharging period” of approximately six months.
It has also been revealed that the voice actor for the role of Straw Hat Pirates’ shipwright Franky will be Subaru Kimura, replacing Kazuki Yao, who has been in the role for about 19 years since his debut in 2005.
Speaking of Kimura, he is known for being the voice actor for many popular characters, such as Takeshi Gota, also known as Gian, in “Doraemon” and Hanamichi Sakuragi in the movie “THE FIRST SLAM DUNK.” In addition, he is a sought-after voice actor from all over the world, having appeared on variety shows and dramas.
