“Funeral Freelen” Freelen and Fern are precisely expressed with embroidery! Pre-release of embroidered zip hoodie at Comiket

From “Funeral Freelen”, an “Embroidered Zip Parka” will be released that reproduces Freelen and Fern using embroidery techniques of over 100,000 stitches (*general term for “needle stitches” in textiles, knitting, embroidery, etc.).

“Funeral Freelen” is a manga by Yamada Kaneto (author) and Abe Tsukasa (illustrator) that is being serialized in “Weekly Shonen Sunday”. Set in a world “after” the Demon King was defeated by the Hero and his party, the story depicts the journey of Freelen, a wizard who has lived for more than a thousand years, who defeated the Demon King with the Hero, and the new people she meets.
It has won many readers with its stories woven by characters that unfold in an innovative chronological order “after the defeat of the Demon King,” with heart-rending drama and dialogue, battles with magic and swords, and humor that will make you laugh. The cumulative number of copies of the comics currently on sale has exceeded 22 million, creating a sensation among manga fans.

The TV anime based on it was broadcast on TV until March 22, 2024, starting with the first special on “Friday Road Show” on September 29, 2023. For half a year, this work attracted a wide range of viewers, not just anime fans, and received a great response. Currently, production of the second season of the TV anime has been decided.

This “embroidered zip hoodie” reproduces Freelen and Fern, who appear in this work, with a density of over 100,000 stitches. Characters are precisely reproduced with high-quality, high-density finish produced in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture, a famous production area for traditional embroidery, and advanced embroidery that takes advantage of the difference in gloss depending on the direction of the thread and the three-dimensional effect of the thread. It is an embroidery expression.

A woven name using gold thread is sewn on the chest, adding a sense of luxury. This thick and durable zip-type hoodie is suitable for all three seasons, and can be worn as an outer layer during the chilly seasons, as well as layered over a jacket or blouson.
