Welcome back to the I Am Anime website
The documentary drama “1995 – 30 Years of the Tokyo Subway Sarin Incident: Voices from the Life-Saving Scenes” in which Tsuda Kenjiro will be starring in his first drama role as a doctor, has been decided to be broadcast on Fuji TV from 9:00 p.m. on March 21, 2025. In addition to Tsuda, Sakurai Hinako and Izumisawa Yuki also appear, depicting the film as a life-saving drama, depicting what was happening at that time, 30 years after the incident, and the people who worked hard to rescue them as their lives were in danger.

The “Tokyo Subway Sarin Incident” refers to a chemical terrorist attack that occurred in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, 30 years ago, on March 20, 1995. Nerve gas and sarin were sprayed inside the Marunouchi Line, Hibiya Line and Chiyoda Line, resulting in 14 deaths and approximately 6,000 serious and minor injuries. It shocked the world as the first incident in which chemical weapons were used by ordinary citizens.
Tokyo was panicked during rush hour when sarin was spreading. At stations and hospitals, life-saving efforts were being carried out to save as many lives as possible. The “desolate dedication” that was behind the major events of the century have accumulated, saving many lives. “1995 – 30 Years of the Tokyo Subway Sarin Incident – Voices from the Life-Saving Site” will be adapted into a drama based on 30 years of original interviews and portray the “relay of life” in the midst of fierce panic.
The lead actor, Tsuda, will play Kenki Tatsuhiko, the director of the hospital’s emergency center. The model is based on a real doctor who decided to accept all the patients who were requested to take in Japan’s predicament and responded to emergency care for patients. In a situation where it was just before the fact that it was sarin, I decided to administer the therapeutic drug, PAM.
Tsuda, who is active in many fields as a voice actor, actor, and narrator, has appeared in numerous anime titles, including Ramen Akaneko and Jujutsu Kaisen, as well as in popular films such as “The Beloved,” “The Last Man: The Blind Investigator,” and “Saionji-san Does Not Do Housework.” This is the first time he has appeared in a Fuji TV drama since episode 6 of “My Lawyer Is Takes a Hand,” which aired in November 2023, and will be starring in this film for the first time.
When appearing in the film, Tsuda commented, “I hope to be able to play a realistic role in the medical field that has not been portrayed much before. I will do my best to carefully convey this incident to people who know about it, but also to people of all ages who don’t know about it.”
Based on original interviews about the Tokyo Subway Sarin Incident, which shocked the world, this film is a documentary drama that contains some fiction. Don’t miss out on “1995 – 30 Years of the Tokyo Subway Sarin Incident: Voices from the Lifesaving Site,” which depicts the truth about those who worked so hard to save as many lives as possible.

◆Please tell us what you thought when you were selected to appear in this film.
When I heard about this drama, I felt very nervous. At the time, I also lived along the Marunouchi Line when the incident occurred. I was in the training school, but when I tried to go to the morning rehearsals hall, the station was closed and I hadn’t watched TV so I couldn’t immediately know what had happened. I remember being surprised to learn that something incredible had happened since then and it was such a shocking incident. Thirty years later, I was nervous about being a star in this film. I am extremely honored to have had this opportunity.

I hope to be able to play a realistic role in the medical field at the time, which has not been portrayed much before. I will do my best to communicate this incident carefully to people who know this incident, as well as people who are not aware of it.
