CyberAgent subsidiary, MyAnimeList, signs a strategic partnership to promote global anime marketing

CyberAgent America (hereinafter referred to as “CA America”), a subsidiary of CyberAgent and a global anime marketing company, has entered into a strategic partnership with MyAnimeList (hereinafter referred to as “MyAnimeList”, the world’s largest English-speaking community and database of Japanese anime and manga. We will promote global anime marketing by building and utilizing our own anime database.

CA America is a global marketing organization specializing in anime, specializing in Japanese and international marketing strategies, and offers localized communication design and promotions aimed at the world.

“MyAnimeList” was founded in 2004 and has 19.5 million members (99% overseas usage). It is one of the world’s largest community and database sites specializing in Japanese anime and manga, mainly male users in their 20s and 30s in English-speaking countries, and is used by users from over 240 countries and regions around the world. Over 320,000 Japanese anime and manga information, word of mouth, rankings, etc. have been posted by users, making it an important community for fans as a place to get the latest information on anime and manga and meet new works.

With this partnership, CA America will promote global anime marketing and promotion using the world’s largest anime fan data held by MyAnimeList.

The company will build a unique database by combining the trends in “Score” and “Rank” for each anime and manga series held by “MyAnimeList”, quantitative data such as the results of “List” added by users, comments posted by users, and various data from social media held by CA America, and analyzing it in a complex way. Using this database, we will formulate marketing strategies and implement promotions that match trends for each anime content. By utilizing unique data obtained from multiple angles, it will be possible to analyze user preferences in depth and with high accuracy, and will develop communication that will encourage you to meet new anime works.

We also intend to build a highly accurate translation system based on the title-by-title qualitative information (information unique to the work, such as characters and voice actor names), and use it to disseminate information in various languages. Furthermore, the trends in each indicator, such as “Score,” for each anime and manga series, are constantly monitored. By taking an integrated bird’s-eye view of indicators and measures, we can accurately grasp the effectiveness of marketing measures. The company said it will lead to the development of new, highly effective marketing and promotions through deeper analysis and consideration.

The two companies will jointly develop these initiatives as well as a variety of new marketing methods that will connect anime fans around the world. Comments have also been received from CA America CEO and Director Yoshida Shota and Mizoguchi Atsushi, CEO and Director of MyAnimeList, regarding the conclusion of the strategic partnership. It is hoped that the efforts of both companies will further enhance the distribution of Japanese anime content.
