Welcome back to the I Am Anime website

The final 42nd volume of Kohei Horikoshi’s manga “My Hero Academia” will be released on December 4, 2024. The cover has been unveiled for the first time, and the word “Cover of the final volume of HeroAca” has ranked among the top trends on X (formerly Twitter) due to its “emoness.” The book, which includes 38 newly drawn pages, has become a hot topic on social media.

“My Hero Academia” was launched in “Weekly Shonen Jump” issue 32, 2014 (released on July 7, 2014), and continued for 10 years in the magazine’s 2024 36/37 combined special issue (released on August 5). This is a hero action manga by Kohei Horikoshi whose serialization has ended. The cumulative worldwide circulation of the series exceeded 100 million copies in April 2024.

The media mix, including the TV anime series, theatrical version, game version, and stage adaptation, is also a hot topic, and the TV anime “FINAL SEASON” is scheduled to be broadcast in 2025. In 2025, he plans to release a fan book and his first art book, as well as hold a new original art exhibition.

“My Hero Academia” final volume 42 cover

The final 42nd volume of this work includes the climax of the battle between the main character Deku (Izuku Midoriya) and other heroes. The final episode, which had a moving finale and received a great response, will now be available in book form.

It also includes 38 pages of newly drawn manga depicting the future. People are already expressing their expectations for the unseen content, with comments such as “I’m so grateful for the 38 new pages…” and “I feel like I’m going to lose my life!!!” By the way, the word “38 newly drawn pages” also became a trend.

“My Hero Academia” Volume 1 cover

The cover of the final 42nd volume, which is attracting attention, has been unveiled for the first time. The composition is inspired by Volume 1, and the illustrations give a sense of the growth of the members of Yuei High School’s 1st year Class A, including Deku.

In Volume 1, All Might towered over Deku, but in Volume 42, Deku has grown into a great man. The composition is exactly the same as All Might, but this time he is on the side watching over him.
On social media, the cover, which can be seen at a glance as an homage to Volume 1, immediately attracted emotional comments such as, “The cover of the final volume is so good,” “Emo. Too emotional,” and “This arrangement…it’s heartwarming!”

Furthermore, pay attention to the fresh and dignified expressions of the Yuei High School 1st year Class A students gathered behind Deku. It’s an exciting development, with familiar faces such as Katsuki Bakugou, Shoto Todoroki, and Ochako Uraraka appearing on the cover alongside Deku.

Also, since it is a “group illustration”, there are characters whose existence cannot be recognized unless you look closely. At first glance, I couldn’t tell where Rikido Sunato was, so I thought he was assimilated because his whole body was yellow and the background color on the cover was also yellow… but he was drawn quietly. Please enlarge the cover and take a close look at the details.

The final 42nd volume of the manga “My Hero Academia” will be released on December 4th. The list price is 572 yen (tax included).
