“Anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” Pillar Exhibition -And then to Mugen Castle-” is being held! Following the trajectory of the pillars – Focus on their activities, personalities, facial expressions, words, etc. until Mugen Castle [Report] | I Am Anime
Welcome back to the I Am Anime website
A large-scale exhibition of the TV anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” titled “Pillar Exhibition – And to Mugen Castle” is currently being held at CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO, a newly opened museum in Kyobashi, Tokyo.
This exhibition will be the opening event for the museum, and with the decisive battle at Mugen Castle on the horizon, you will be able to experience the “pillars” that can only be experienced here. When I actually went inside, I was able to experience a new sensation of “bathing” rather than “watching” the exhibits. In this article, we will report on the internal situation.
■What is “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” and the “Pillar Exhibition”?
“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is an anime based on the manga by Koyoharu Gotoge, which has been published by Shueisha’s “Jump Comics” in 23 volumes, with a total circulation of over 150 million copies. The story depicts the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a boy whose family was killed by demons, who joins the Demon Slayer Corps in order to return his younger sister Nezuko, who has become a demon, back to a human, and throws himself into the fight against demons. .
The anime produced by ufotable has been in series since April 2019 with “TV Anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Kamado Tanjiro Risshi Hen”, and “TV Anime “Kamado Tanjiro Risshi Hen” was aired in May 2024. After the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Pillar Training Edition, it has been decided that a trilogy of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle Edition will be produced. The heart-wrenching story of humans and demons, the gruesome sword fights, the charming characters, and the occasional comical scenes have made it popular all over the world.
The “Anime “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” Pillar Exhibition – And to Mugen Castle” will be held for the first time in this work, featuring the highest-ranking swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps, the “Pillars” Water Pillar, Giyu Tomioka, Mushibashira, Shinobu Kocho, Flame Pillar – Anjuro Rengoku, Sound Pillar – Tengen Uzu, Love Pillar – Mitsuri Kanroji, Serpent Pillar – Iguro Obanai, Kaze Pillar – Miya Fushigawa, Kasumi Pillar – Muichiro Tokito, The one that focuses on the rock pillar/Scream Island Gyoumei.
The strongest swordsmen who connect the feelings of the Demon Slayer Corps who have fought Muzan Kibutsuji for a thousand years. The exhibition focuses on the charms of these nine “pillars” in various ways, focuses on their individuality and thoughts, and moves toward Infinity Castle with the thoughts of the “pillars.”
■An exhibition focusing on the personalities, words, facial expressions, etc. of the pillars of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba”
Column – Gathering
Before the preview, the museum director, Miyoshi Nakayama, spoke to me and said that in addition to just displaying the exhibits, they are also “putting a lot of effort into videos.” You can see this right away in the “Pillar – Gathering” room that you are guided through the reception desk.
When the visitors are gathered in one room, the voice of the master (Yoya Ubuyashiki) can be heard saying, “Welcome to see you, my cute swordsmen (children).” In front of you is the tatami room where the lord is sitting, with lanterns glowing mysteriously on either side, making you feel as if you have really been invited to Ubuyashiki’s residence. Then, a powerful introductory video of the pillars was played on a screen that covered the entire wall, and from there, it was time to take a look around the exhibit.
Pillar – Individuality
Next, in the “Pillars – Individuality” area, the nine pillars are displayed in a three-dimensional and multifaceted manner through graphics, text, and video.
The focus is on the “individuality” of each pillar, and from the images at the top of the character panel and the materials on the back, you can learn about their characteristics, personalities, famous scenes, past history, and their “breathing”. You can.
Furthermore, when you enter, a card with a QR code called a “pillar card” will be distributed at the entrance, and by reading it, you will be able to enjoy original audio content in which the selected pillar introduces other pillars. Masu.
It’s terrible that you can only choose one out of nine…! After much consideration, I chose Mitsuri. It was a really cute introduction, so if you’re having trouble deciding who to choose, why not choose Mitsuri? If you want to hear the audio of other pillars, we recommend you come and share with your friends or visit the exhibition many times.
In the “Pillar – Body” area, life-sized panels of pillars and the handle of a Japanese sword are on display. This pattern seems to have been reproduced from various materials. You can actually hold it, and you will be deeply immersed in it, thinking, “The pillars are fighting while holding this thing…”
And when you see the nine panel members lined up like this, the physical differences are amazing! Screaming Island is too big… As expected, he is the “strongest swordsman of the Demon Slayer Corps”!
Pillars – Words
Next to it is the “Pillar – Words” area, which focuses on the famous lines of the pillars. The words of the pillars are truly rich, ranging from famous quotes that serve as guidelines for living to ones that will make you smile. When I found Giyu-san’s “I’m not hated,” I couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
In addition, “pillar cards” are used in this area as well. When you hold the pillar plate over the installed QR code reader, famous scenes and famous quotes from that character will be played. Be sure to check it out locally to see what kind of dialogue it is.
Pillar – expression
The “Pillar – Expression” area is a collection of about 1,000 original drawings of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” created by ufotable, focusing on the “expression” of the pillars. Even though the original drawings are not colored, being surrounded by this many pictures can be described as “amazing”! You can visually perceive the emotions of the pillars at any given time from their individual facial expressions. Please find your favorite expression.
My favorite is Mitsuri-chan with a pouty face! I found it!
Column – jumping
In the adjacent “Hashira – Dynamism” area, the scenes of the pillars performing their techniques are displayed in a continuous frame-by-frame manner. Even though it wasn’t moving, it looked like it was moving, making it an area worthy of the name “dynamic.”
And to the infinite castle
Finally, we headed to the area called “And then to Infinite Castle,” which is also the subtitle of the exhibition. What moved me the most was this area. When I entered the room guided by a guide, the floor suddenly began to shake, triggered by the sound of a melodious voice recorded specifically for this exhibition. .
Has there ever been an attraction where the floor shakes at an exhibition? It was my first experience.
Then, the floor cracks and they go to Infinite Castle… There’s no way they can go there, but the images are projected on the floor and the four walls, and in the final episode of the anime “Hashira Training Edition”, Tanjiro and the pillars go to Infinite Castle. The space that invited you has been recreated, and it feels like you are actually falling into Infinite Castle…!
The destination you arrive at is the inside of “Infinite Castle” where you will be guided next. Among the demons reflected on the shoji screens, you’ll also see your nemesis, Muzan Kibutsuji, and Kuroshimu, the first member of the first generation, so don’t miss them.
After passing through the tense corridor, you will be reunited with the pillars again. This is a photo spot, but the back view seems to have some meaning. The author, who had read the original work and knew the ending, was already in tears while filming…
■Goods and cafe where you can soak in the afterglow of the exhibition!
The exhibition ends here, but there is also a goods corner and cafe beyond. There is a wide variety of items such as posters and clear files, but my personal recommendation is the goods that focus on each pillar. It’s a random item, but no matter which one you pull, only the supporting pillars come out, so it’s like you can only win!
Please take a look! Get Mitsuri’s unique badges, pins, and charms! Even so, it’s the sad otaku saga that makes me want to have all the types…
The cafe, titled “Anime ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ Pillar Exhibition – And to Mugen Castle – Cafe produced by ufotable Cafe,” offers 9 food menu items (with specialty cards), 9 dessert menu items (with quote cards), and drinks. There are 9 menu items (with cup sleeves and paper coasters) and 9 bottled drinks (with bottles). The menu is inspired by each character and can be enjoyed with all five food senses, including taste and smell.
Why not soak in the afterglow of the exhibition while eating the menu featuring your favorite characters?
