The synopsis and advance scene cuts for the first episode, “I’m here,” which will begin airing on Monday, April 7th, 2025, have been released from the spring anime “Vigirante – My Hero Academia ILLEGALS.” In addition, we also received an interview with Umeda Shuichiro, who plays the main character, Haimaki Koichi, towards the first episode.

“Vigilante – My Hero Academia ILLEGALS” is an anime adaptation of the official spin-off series that follows the official history of “My Hero Academia,” also written by Furuhashi Hideyuki and illustrated by Betsu Tenarato, serialized on the manga app Shonen Jump+ from 2017 to 2022, and released up to 15 volumes of comics.
The story depicted in the main story of “My Hero Academia” is set in Japan several years ago, and is recognized and active in the world.<ヒーロー>Behind the scenes, the drama unfolds between the illegal heroes Vigilante, who can’t help but save someone even if they are not recognized by anyone.

Episode 1 “I’m here” synopsis
This world has around 80% of the total population possesses some kind of supernatural ability, “personality,” and with government approval, the existence of “heroes” who protect society through their “personality.” A normal college student, Haimai Koichi is unable to give up his longing for a hero he once gave up, and secretly enjoys helping a hero-like man who calls himself a “kind man.”

One day, Koichi is entangled with a slug and is in a close call. At that time, it wasn’t the hero or the police who appeared before Koichi…?

Episode 1 depicts this shocking episode of Koichi’s underground idol Pop, and the cleaner Knuckle. In addition to the powerful action scenes that make use of their individuality, one of the highlights is the success of professional heroes who are familiar to My Hero Academia fans.

Furthermore, this film also features relay interviews with the cast members who play key characters that are the central characters of the story for each episode. Ahead of the first episode, we received an interview with Umeda Shuichiro, who plays Koichi.

The film is full of talk about the appeal of Vigilante’s work, which means that you can “replace yourself and enjoy it in real life,” the impression of Koichi saying that he “can’t believe he’s someone else,” and the highlights of the first episode, so you’ll want to enjoy it before it airs. The full interview is now available on the official website.
The first episode of the spring anime “Vigirante – My Hero Academia ILLEGALS” “I’m here” will begin airing on TOKYO MX, BS NTV, and Yomiuri TV from Monday, April 7th, 2025. It will also be streamed sequentially on various video streaming services immediately after it is broadcast.
Umeda Shuichiro as the role of Koichi
–Please tell us about the parts of the worldview of Vigilante that you find attractive.
The title “Vigilante” refers to people who are not the pro heroes that were focused on in “My Hero Academia,” but who have no approval but have a desire to help others. While the heroes’ explosive explosively depicted in “My Hero Academia,” the people who live their lives just like us are also trying to protect the city by having their own righteousness. I thought the biggest attraction was that I had lived in the world of My Hero Academia and replaced it with myself and enjoyed it in real life.
–Please also tell us your impressions of Koichi, who plays it.
My first impression was that even though he is the main character of the story, he is a dull child (lol). This dullness overlaps with me, and there are many similarities in personality, so I can’t believe Koichi is someone else. Watching Koichi’s actions and growing up through interaction with others reminds me of his former self. It’s the same as Koichi’s feelings for a hero, and in my case it’s about the “actors.” I love anime and have a crush on voice actors, but I have no challenge and think, “There’s no way I can become,” and I have come to terms with him, and I have met someone who will give me the opportunity to take a step towards my dreams… I remembered a lot of things like that.
–Like “My Hero Academia”, this film features a series of passionate scenes and famous lines. Which scene in the story of the first episode made you feel “this is hot!”
It’s hard to get lost because everything is hot, but I think All Might will appear as soon as it starts. Koichi, who has longed for All Might since he was little, said, “All Might is amazing when you see it live!”, but when I was also aspired to become an actor, I saw “My Hero Academia” and thought, “All Might is so cool!”, so that was the moment when I and Koichi were in sync. As a fan of My Hero Academia, it’s exciting to see it start with Deku’s narration! And the other way around, the scene where Koichi meets Knuckle and takes the path to Vigilante was really heartwarming.
–Please tell us what are the highlights and highlights of episode 1.
This is a spin-off of “My Hero Academia”, but it is a work that even those who haven’t seen “My Hero Academia” can enjoy. Although it is a special setting, about 80% of the total population has “personality,” the focus is on the days that were not depicted in “My Hero Academia,” those who were unable to become heroes, those who were not interested in heroes and just wanted to live in peace, and the parts that are linked to our daily lives are realistically depicted. Pay attention to that story.
