The synopsis and advance scene cuts for the first episode, “The Saint Who Doesn’t Smile,” which will begin airing on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025, have been released from the TV anime “The Saint Who Don’t Smile If She’s So Perfect and Not Cute, will be sold to a neighboring country.”
“The saint whose engagement is broken off because he is too perfect and not cute” is a fantasy based on a light novel published by Fuyuzuki Mitsuteru from Overlap Novels F, and a comic adaptation published by Ayakita Mago from Gard Comics, which has sold over 1.5 million copies in total. It depicts the miraculous story of Filia, a saint who was sold to a neighboring country because of her being too perfect.
The story takes place in a world where a saint who is responsible for protecting the country from monsters exists. Born into a family that produced saints in the Kingdom of Ziltonia for generations, Filia has acquired the ability to be described as the “best ever” thanks to her strict education, and has worked hard every day.
However, due to the lack of openness, the people around him dislike him, saying that he was “too perfect and not cute,” and his engagement is broken off by his fiancee, second prince Julius. Furthermore, for money and resources, she was sold to the neighboring Kingdom of Parnacorta, where she suffered in the absence of the saint, and ended up departing from her hometown. Filia heads to her neighboring country, prepared for miserable treatment, but what awaits her is an unexpected welcome… and the story unfolds.
