We’ve picked out the super unrivaled school life of another world Demon King, “Last Boss Girl Akari”![Review of “Jump TOON” featured works / Vol. 1][PR]

Jump TOON is a vertical reading manga service for smartphones and tablet devices, first published by Shueisha in May 2024. The “vertical color version” of the popular works that have been popular for media, with frames reorganized into vertical readings and are now fully colored, is also eye-catching, but the unique appeal of this service is probably the many original works that can only be read here.
In this article, we have picked out one of the most notable works from the original Jump TOON work, “The Last Boss Girl Akari: Going to the present day to meet someone stronger than me.” We will be introducing the fun of the anime adaptation while also raising hopes (delusions).
■Synopsis introduction
“Can we expect anything more from this world…” Born as the final boss of a dungeon of the most difficult world in a certain other world, Demon King Avalon is bored. This is because for ten thousand years, no one will ever find themselves defeating them. Finally, Avalon gives up on that world, and decides to be reborn with the ultimate reincarnation magic. To meet someone who will defeat you and end your story as your final boss.

Thus, Avalon woke up in Tokyo, Japan in 20XX. The girl who was reincarnated in…Akari, a girl who was at the moment of death, apparently, committed suicide by being bullied and suffering from poisoning. “Instead of using your body, I’ll give you moxibustion to those bullying.” And the morning after I was reincarnated. Avalon leaves the house as Akari, who has made a “change of image.”
Episode 1 (Preview) “The Last Boss Girl Akari: Going to the present day to meet someone stronger than me”
The new world Avalon Akari has arrived at seems to be in a strong position with monsters that suddenly appear from the gate, and hunters who hunt them. There are also organizations that manage hunters and schools that train them, and it seems that the original Akari had fallen out at school and was a target for bullying. Immediately after Akari has grasped them, monsters appear in the city.
The government also saw it as a disaster-level monster as an emergency, but Akari easily defeated it. “A hunter is something that defeats monsters. In other words, there are inevitably some people stronger than monsters. If you can come across someone of this level on the side of the road, you can expect it.” Akari, who is seeking strong people yet to see her, heads to the school, and a group of giggling eyes awaits the school gates.
■The exploits of the “final boss” protagonist Avalon Akari are refreshing!
The first episode begins with this plot, but while the introductory aspects of the so-called “reincarnation of another world x unrivaled”, it is probably the “charm” of the character of the “final boss” protagonist Avalon Akari who inspires you to scroll.
The girl who was reincarnated has come to an unfortunate end, but upon learning this, Avalon reveals that “I can’t really understand the feelings of the weak,” but in order to at least reward her, she is determined to “I will give moxibustion for those bullies,” and begins her second life as a girl.
He is just an absolute strong man. It is difficult to take a weaker perspective, but at the same time, he is not arrogant at his strength (after all, he has reigned as the “final boss” for 10,000 years. Where is that necessary?) Even if you step into an unknown world, he is able to be invincible in a flash with his ideological behavior, making him the “final boss” that readers can expect. His bamboo-like personality should make him look like an exhilarating protagonist even in the eyes of readers who are not familiar with “Reincarnation in Another World x Musou.”

Also, that’s why Akari’s characters are so strong that readers who are familiar with anime might be able to hear their voices already in their minds when they’re reading them. The voices of Avalon, Akari…the lines from the double cast already echo in my head.
And the first person to stand in Akari as a human being is Kashiwagi, the third year old man who is an extremely unfair bully. The reason Akari, who was threatened by his chest lewd and forced him to tone in episode 2, is probably one of the highlights at the beginning of this film. After that, he heard about his fighting spirit with Kashiwagi, and Mashima Kanan, the student council president who is very strong with the title of “A-rank hunter,” also draws attention to Akari. Akari is simply looking for a strong enemy he has yet to see, and does not want to show off his strength himself.
It’s also interesting that Akari is the protagonist, who is extremely attractive as a character, but in the storyline, they play the role of Akari as the driving force behind him.
■The lines that stand out in the “vertical reading manga” and the accentuating expression! You can also show off your battles that are unique to you
It would be worth mentioning that this work is also a “vertical reading manga” format that further enhances its appeal.
Vertical reading manga is a format where each frame is read from top to bottom, so each and every line of speech bubbles (lines) that jump into your field of vision whenever you scroll through the screen and each of the character’s expressions is even more memorable than the horizontal reading manga. Akari’s refreshing personality, with a refreshing bamboo-like personality, and her rich expression (I especially like the relaxed smile that shows off her double teeth), makes her seem even more attractive, as it is a vertical reading manga. The characters involved with Akari, such as the bully Kashiwagi and the student council president, Nanka, must also be partly because it is a vertical reading manga that stands out.
If it was made into an anime, I would definitely recommend that you show me your impressive lines and expressions on a closer screen! I’m sure I’m not the only one who imagines this.

On the other hand, one of the things that seems to have limitations on how to draw is because it is a vertical reading, but this work also highlights the uniqueness of the story. Battle action is also one of the major highlights of this work, but the depiction that makes sense of vertical movement, taking advantage of the vertical panels, is actually even more dynamic than a horizontal reading manga (after all, movement is actually created by being read by scrolling).
The battle between Kashiwagi and Kashiwagi depicted at the beginning, Akari’s attack in episode 2 slams Kashiwagi against the wall, and Kashiwagi’s attack in episode 3 slashes a fireball at Akari are probably typical examples. If you’re a reader reading on your smartphone, I think it’s more impressive than the screen is spreading all over. When it comes to depicting battle action in manga, it is only readers who tend to imagine a large screen with double-page spreads that will make them realize the unique benefits of being “unique”. These kinds of depictions would look really good if they were made into an anime.
・Hunter vs. monsters in modern Japan!? A stage where the fantasy-style Japanese style is bulging out
Also, when it comes to anime adaptations, it’s the modern-day…but you might think it’s a modern fantasy-style Japan where monsters roam and hunters hunt them make a difference, so I’d definitely like to take a look at the setting of this work, as it’s a perfect setting to escalate your fantasy.
In episode 1 (although there were words in the original Akari’s diary that hinted at “MP won’t go up” and “E rank”), the moment Akari leaves the viewer’s presence, revealing the existence of monsters and hunters, which was exactly in sync with Akari, bringing readers hope for a new world. In episode 1, the battle in an urban area that appears to be within Tokyo is not depicted in detail (because Akari won in a flash), but I would definitely like to enjoy the depiction of “the hunter vs. monsters in the urban area of modern Japan (wind)” as an anime background art.

…And the highlights of “The Last Boss Girl Akari: Going to the Modern Times to Meet People Stronger Than Me” is currently being streamed on “Jump TOON.” Three episodes are completely free, and the latest episodes are updated every Wednesday.
You can also enjoy using “Wait for free” where you can read the work for free if you wait for a certain amount of time, so please take this opportunity to follow the exhilarating exploits of the strongest final boss who has been reincarnated as a high school girl in modern times.
