To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the TV broadcast of the anime Space Battleship Yamato, the bonus plastic model released in February 2008, which comes with a DVD box, has been reissued. The “1/700 scale plastic model Space Battleship Yamato[50th anniversary of the broadcast, produced by Anno Hideaki]” with new molding colors and original packaging will begin accepting pre-orders on the mail order site “A-on STORE” and other locations from 10am on March 15th, 2025.
Space Battleship Yamato began with the first TV series, Space Battleship Yamato, and many TV series, theatrical and live-action films have continued to be produced since. The broadcast will surpass its 50th anniversary in 2024. A variety of events are being held, including the special exhibition “Space Battleship Yamato Complete Record Exhibition” and the sale of special merchandise.
“Yamato, Forever, REBEL3199 Chapter 3: Gunjo Asteroid,” which will be released in theaters from April 11th, 2025, is a completely new film that is reconstructed with a new interpretation of the third theatrical film “Yamato, Forever,” released in 1980, and Space Battleship Yamato III in the same year. The latest installment in the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 series is comprised of a 26-episode series, and is screened in theaters nationwide with a total of seven chapters.
Chapter 1: Black Invasion (Episodes 1 and 2) was released on July 19, 2024, and Chapter 2: Red Sunset Siding (Episodes 3 to 6) was released on November 22, 2024.
The 1/700 scale plastic model Space Battleship Yamato[50th Anniversary of Broadcasting, produced by Anno Hideaki]is a new reproduction of the bonus that was included in the Space Battleship Yamato TV DVD-BOX released in February 2008. The original “1/700 Space Battleship Yamato plastic model” is shaped by director Nishizaki Yoshinobu and supervised by Anno Hideaki.
The reprint will also be re-supervised by Anno Hideaki, and will be released in new molding colors based on cels from the TV anime, as well as an exterior package drawn by Anno Hideaki. This is a plastic model that is truly worthy of its 50th anniversary.
The price of “1/700 scale plastic model Space Battleship Yamato[50th anniversary of the broadcast, produced by Anno Hideaki]” is 8,800 yen (tax included). Orders will be accepted from A-on STORE and Premium Bandai from 10:00 on March 15th to 11:59 on May 30th.
The actual product will also be exhibited at the Space Battleship Yamato Complete Records Exhibition, which will be held from March 15th. Be sure to visit the venue to check before the order deadline.
