The first TV anime “Twins Hinahima” that uses AI throughout the entire episode will air from March 29th! Starring Hiratsuka Sae and Ikoma Yurie

It has been announced that the TV anime “Twins Hinahima,” produced by Frontier Works and KaKa Creation, which utilizes supportive AI, will be broadcast on MBS from March 29th, 2025. This is the first animation in Japan to be broadcast on terrestrial television. With the announcement, a new PV has been released, and it has been revealed that Hiratsuka Sae and Ikoma Yurie will be the main cast members.

“Twins Hinahima” was produced using AI technology in addition to the Adobe and Celsys products used in traditional animation production, with the idea that “AI is simply an auxiliary tool for creators’ creative activities.” In the main story, all cuts are subject to reduced burdens through AI support. On the other hand, in the end, the additions and revisions were made by hand, and quality was guaranteed.
The story unfolds as twin high school girls Himari and Hinana, who dream of going back and forth, start with dancing and film the material that seems like they’re likely to develop, and when they notice something strange “something” they step into a strange world. It is based on the twin TikToker “Twins Hinahima.”

The main staff will be Nakano Beni, who will be the director for the first time, and Shinada Yu, who has been active in a variety of other scenes including manga and novels in the script, and the character designs include “Love Live! A talented staff member such as Yokota Takumi, known for “Nijigasaki School Idol Club” and other works took part.
In order to utilize AI, we have been recruiting Ultra-Noob, who has been presenting in seminars at Digital Hollywood Tokyo’s main school, and episode 852 (Hakoniwa), who has been active as a top runner since the beginning of AI technology development, has been working as a technical director, and X (formerly Twitter) has surpassed 360,000 followers, and has been active as a top runner since the beginning of AI technology development. Other animators, art and filming staff, as well as frontline staff who normally participate in television series and Netflix works, have gathered together, and have become a major driving force in exploring new expressions using AI.

The main cast will also be Hiratsuka Sae, who plays Hoshikawa Mitsuki in “Secret IPri” and Ikoma Yurie, who plays Hoshino Ruby in “[My Favorite Child]” will play Nana. Comments were also received from both cast members.
Among the theme songs, the opening theme theme, “Ogyumen to Dei!”, is a twin vocal song by Hiroin Himari (CV: Hiratsuka Sae) and Hinana (CV: Ikoma Yurie). The ending theme “6:00 PM” is performed by CHiCO, an artist who has been extremely popular as a vocalist for CHiCO with HoneyWorks and has launched a solo project in 2023. The lyrics and music were written by Inoue Ryoma of the four-member piano rock band SHE’S.

The highlight of this work is that it was made possible using AI, even when it was considered difficult to express things from the perspective of traditional production work, such as scenes where hair fluttering. The aim was to create new value in anime and visual expression unique to AI. In production, the company places emphasis on the concept of “supportive AI,” a way to use AI to support creators, and is working on the production process in a way that allows for the current copyright operation of Japan, based on the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s “AI Business Guidelines” and advice from lawyers.

Before it airs, the TV anime “Twins Hinahima” has also been decided to premiere at the Niigata International Animation Film Festival, the largest festival in Asia, with a competition section of feature-length animated films. This initiative is likely to attract attention not only from anime fans but also from a wide range of fields as it faces AI technology head-on and explores the possibilities of future anime production by creators through trial and error.

The TV anime “Twins Hinahima” that utilizes supportive AI is scheduled to air on MBS from 3:38am on March 29th, 2025. From 12:00 on March 30th, streaming will also begin on various streaming sites such as d Anime Store, ABEMA, TVer, MBS Videoism, DMMTV, and PrimeVideo.
