The new feature-length animated film “AS ONE” has been announced, directed by Shizuno Kofumi, the Detective Conan series, including “Detective Conan: From the Crimson Love Song,” and character design by Sadamoto Yoshiyuki, known for works such as “Neon Genesis Evangelion.” The release date has been decided for the summer of 2025, and the image board and concept art have been released.
Shizuno Kobun, who directs this film, is known for being in charge of the same series since the 15th film Detective Conan, Detective Conan: Silent 15 Minutes (2011). Detective Conan: Crimson Love Song (2017) won the number one Japanese film gross in the same year.
And Sadamoto Yoshiyuki, who is responsible for character design, is also active at the forefront of animator and manga artist. He is a leading Japanese creator who has also worked on character designs for popular anime works such as “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time,” and “Summer Wars.”
The completely new feature-length animated film “AS ONE” produced by the two is based on Square Enix’s arcade game “The Paradox of the Stars and Wings.”
In response to the desire of the original author Square Enix to “if it’s made into a film, we want Shizuno to create something interesting and not be bound by the content of the game,” this is a completely original story work that was created by Shizuno, who created ideas and together with the screenwriter. The story is built from 20 years ago from the original, and as in the original, all the characters created by Sadamoto have been revamped.
Shizuno also revealed that music is the key point of this work, saying, “The central part of the story is the melody played by the main character (You). When his singing voice reaches the planet across time and space, numerous mysteries that were not told in the original are revealed,” and commented that “the generation who came across the original at a game center will be impressed by the coexistence of nostalgia and new discoveries, and that generations who don’t know the original will have a feeling that the beginning of a grand story will be the beginning of a grand story.”
Sadamoto also said, “This is the first time in a while to participate in a theatrical production. I have had many new attempts with the director I’ve been with for the first time, so I think it will be an exciting film in all respects. I hope you all can look forward to it and wait.”
With the announcement of the film’s decision to be made into a film, two image boards and one concept art have been released. One picture depicts the main character, You, and Lako, who lives on a planet that exists beyond the universe, meet in a fantastic space. What space will the two of you be in? The title Az One means “to be united” in Japanese, and there are plenty of things to be curious about the details of their relationship.
Furthermore, concept art featuring robots gives you a glimpse into a beautiful worldview. It is a grand story that transcends time and space, and is increasingly anticipated for a new era of science fiction animated film, woven together by the collaboration of Shizuno and Sadamoto, who lead the Japanese anime world, with exciting works in all respects.

Modern Japan.
You, a high school student who is aiming to become a musician, is troubled by the relationships between his opposing parents and his bandmates, and is unable to decide on his future. Meanwhile, a Meguriboshi floating in space.
