Yamashita Ikuto’s first art book, “Evangelion ANIMA: Yamashita Ikuto Art Book,” which also participated in the mecha design of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX, was released on February 19, 2025. This book is a compilation of ANIMA, which has been depicted for 30 years since “Neon Genesis Evangelion.”
Yamashita Ikuto was born in 1965 and was from Gifu Prefecture. He is known for being a mechanic designer in many anime works, including Nadia of the Mysterious Sea, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Battle Fairy Yukikaze. He also worked as a part of planning, writing, design and illustration for the novel “Evangelion ANIMA.” In addition, at the 2015 Japanese Anime (Ter) Trade Fair, he published the short anime series “Idol Theater” as a director.
Yamashita’s first art book, “Evangelion ANIMA: Yamashita Ikuto Art Book,” focuses on color illustrations and setting drawings from “Evangelion ANIMA,” an original story that depicts the world three years after the final episode of the TV anime. This book is packed with treasure illustrations that fans will be greeted by, including color illustrations for the TV anime “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” color illustrations for “Idol Theater,” which Yamashita announced as the director of the “Japanese Anime (Ter) Trade Fair,” and setting drawings.
In addition, it also includes exclusive interviews that are essential to Evangelion fans, such as “How the Evangelion Design was Created” and “How the Evangelion ANIMA was Born.” Due to the paperback, the overflowing stories that were not available have been featured on Dengeki Hobby Web, so you can enjoy them along with the interview page of the art book.
