The new future TV “ABEMA” will broadcast Japan’s largest anime award “Japan Anime Trend Award 2024” on the “Anime SPECIAL Channel” from 19:00 on December 26th. During the program, ABEMA will hold a “Japan Anime Trend Awards Ceremony” where ABEMA will conduct a rigorous screening based on data compiled by each major media and announce the award-winning works in each category.
The Anime Topic Award in the “Theatrical Version” category has been awarded to “Haikyu the Movie!! Battle at the Garbage Dump.”
At the “Japan Anime Trend Awards 2024”, we will look back at the trends of 2024 and introduce hot works of 2025. The main MC will be Yuki Iwai of Haraichi, and the sub MC will be Rika Adachi. Guest appearances include anime-loving celebrities such as Iidaro Amatsu, Aozora Tokui, and Tatsuomi Hamada.
This time, “Haikyu the Movie!! Battle at the Garbage Dump” has been selected for the “Theatrical Version” category of the Anime Topic Award, which selects anime that have become a hot topic in 2024.
The movie had a rocket start, attracting 1.52 million viewers and box office revenue of over 2.2 billion yen in the three days of screening, and box office revenue of over 10 billion yen in less than three months after its release. This led to a long-running screening that lasted more than six months.
In the end, worldwide box office revenue exceeded 20 billion yen, and the movie’s theme song “Orange” sung by SPYAIR has been viewed over 33.55 million times on YouTube. The movie’s X (formerly Twitter) account became a hot topic on social media, with 1.89 million followers, which led to the award.
A VTR comment has arrived from Ayumu Murase, who plays the role of the main character, Shoyo Hinata. He was delighted to receive the award, and noted that the film’s running time was 85 minutes, which is based on the actual length of the match between Karasuno and Nekoma, and said, “We mustered up all our physical strength to record it.”
