“Kowloon Generic Romance” is a mystery based on the manga that is being serialized in Shueisha’s “Weekly Young Jump” and has a total circulation of over 1.2 million copies, as the latest work by Jun Mayuzuki of “Love is Like After the Rain”.・It’s a love romance. Reiko Kujirai, who works at a real estate agency in Kowloon Walled City, a city full of nostalgia, has a faint crush on Hatsu Kudo, her senior at work. Then, Reiko suddenly finds a photo and learns that Kudo had a fiancée who looked exactly like her in the past. What is the lost memory, the true identity of the other person, and the huge secret hidden in the city of Kowloon? As the past, present, and future intertwine, love reveals secrets.
It has been decided that a TV anime and a live-action movie will be made into a TV anime and a live-action movie in 2025. The TV anime will star Haruka Shiraishi (playing Reiko Kujirai) and Tomokazu Sugita (playing Kudo), while the live-action movie will star Riho Yoshioka (playing Reiko Kujirai). Kouji Mizukami (played by Hatsu Kudo) will be in charge.
The teaser visual for the TV anime that was recently released depicts Reiko Kujirai and Hajime Kudo standing in a back alley in Kowloon. In addition, the first PV of the TV anime, which features new characters such as Miyuki Januma, Thao Nguyen, Yang Ming, and Oguro, which will be unveiled for the first time, has also arrived. The video shows the daily lives of Kudo, Reiko, and Reiko’s friends Yang Ming and Oguro, who live in Kowloon Walled City, a town full of nostalgia.
Reiko realizes that she is in love with Kudo, saying, “I love this person,” but the video suddenly takes a disturbing turn. Reiko is confused when she finds a photo of a woman who looks exactly like her, standing shoulder to shoulder with Kudo. As he traces his vague memories, new characters such as the suspicious Henanuma and Gwen appear, and the mystery deepens. So what exactly is happening in “Kowloon”?

The TV anime “Kowloon Generic Romance” will be broadcast on the TV Tokyo network from April 2025. I look forward to further updates in the future.
Ryutaro Okiayu (as Miyuki Januma)
Previously, I was involved in the audio recording for something like an image PV, but thankfully I was able to appear in the anime version as well.
I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of atmosphere Kowloon will have when it is temporarily closed.
A live-action movie has also been announced, so it’s sure to become a hot topic!
I can’t help but be curious about how each of them is expressed and summarized.
I would appreciate it if you could pay attention to it.
Yasuto Saka (Thao Nguyen)
First of all, what really left an impression on me was that during the dubbing for this movie, during the breaks, the cast members couldn’t stop talking about the story and the intent of the words.
To that extent, everyone was drawn into the delicate, somewhat nostalgic Kowloon atmosphere of this work, and I feel that we all shared the same atmosphere.
Gwen, who I will be playing this time, holds the key to the story, but he also seeks something and takes action.
He is a life-sized young man who has not fully matured.
I would like you to pay attention to how he will be involved in the story.
Please enjoy this “Adult Love Romance” where the characters you can empathize with and the way you see them change depending on the viewer!
Aoi Koga (as Yang Ming)
I’m Aoi Koga, and I’m the voice of Yang Ming.
This is the first time I’ve touched the original work and felt like I didn’t want to know it even though I wanted to know so much…!
It’s a work that you can really get into and immerse yourself in the story.
Yang Ming naturally brightens up the world just by being around him, and for some reason, he makes me feel like I can trust every word and expression he gives me.
Please look forward to seeing how the characters will live as an animation!
Sayumi Suzushiro (Oguro)
I’m Sayumi Suzushiro, who will be playing the role of Oguro!
When I saw the original work, I was immediately captivated by the overwhelmingly beautiful illustrations and the atmosphere that only this work can create. I had already seen Mayuzuki-sensei’s other works and loved them, so I remember being very excited when I was informed that I had been accepted for the role of Oguro.
What does it mean to be yourself? What is your true self?
I would like you to see how Oguro lives in the world of Kowloon, where the emotions of various people are mixed. Thank you very much! !
Yoshiaki Iwasaki (Director)
My name is Iwasaki and I will be directing the anime “Kowloon Generic Romance.” All the staff are working hard to express this original work, which is full of charm, such as the love romance and suspense elements surrounding Kudo and Reiko, the buildings of Kowloon Walled City that envelop them, and the deep atmosphere of the lives of the residents, in the animation! I would be happy if you could watch it. thank you. I toured both sites, and there were many things that warmed my heart. I can’t wait for the day when this passion reaches everyone. Look forward to it!
