“Funeral Free Ren” is a manga by Yamada Kaneto (author) and Abe Tsukasa (illustrator) that is being serialized in “Weekly Shonen Sunday”. Set in a world “after” the Demon King was defeated by the Hero and his party, the story depicts the journey of Freelen, a wizard who has lived for more than a thousand years, who defeated the Demon King with the Hero, and the new people she meets. In 2021, it won the Grand Prize of the Manga Awards 2021, the New Life Award of the 25th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award, and the 69th Shogakukan Manga Award. The cumulative circulation of comics exceeds 22 million copies.

The TV anime based on this story was broadcast from September 29, 2023 to March 22, 2024. Its weekly broadcasts were supported by a wide range of fans and viewers, and it dominated the anime scene not only in Japan but also overseas, with many rankings in the viewing rankings of various video distribution services.
