“Noitamina” is an anime slot on Fuji Television that began broadcasting in 2005. With the desire to “overturn the common sense of anime,” the name was created by spelling “Animation” backwards in Roman letters. It has been broadcasting late at night for a long time, but in April 2025, which marks the 20th anniversary of broadcasting, the broadcast time will be moved to the 11pm time slot on Fuji TV nationwide.

And, as the memorable first work of the new “Noitamina”, it has been decided that the TV anime “Mystery Solving is After Dinner” will be broadcast. This work has become a hot topic in many media mixes such as TV dramas, movies, manga, and stage plays, and is a popular mystery novel by Atsuya Higashikawa that has sold over 4.95 million copies in total. ) is the original work.

The cast who will play the three main characters of this work, which is set in Kunitachi City, Tokyo, have been revealed.
Reiko Hosho has two faces: she is a detective at the National Police Station, but she is also the daughter of the Hosho Group, a world-famous conglomerate that handles everything from banking, electrical equipment, steel, distribution, and apparel to printing and publishing.・Reiko) is played by Kana Hanazawa.

Yuki Kaji plays Kageyama, Reiko’s butler and driver, who has sharp reasoning skills and a poisonous tongue. Kageyama is also the person that Reiko consults with her about the ins and outs of every difficult case she encounters. “Are the young lady’s eyes knotholes?” he says with a venomous tone that borders on abusive, pointing out Reiko’s lack of reasoning ability and vividly unraveling the mystery.

Mamoru Miyano plays Kyoichiro Kazamatsuri, an inspector at the National Police Station and Reiko’s boss. Kazamatsuri is the heir of Kazamatsuri Motors, and he appears on the scene wearing a flashy white suit that doesn’t look like a detective, but his reasoning ability seems to be poor.

The director is Mitsuyuki Masuhara, who worked on “Ace of Diamond” and “Polar Bear Cafe,” and the series director is Mariko Kunisawa, who has worked on “Jeweler Richard’s Mystery Appraisal” and “Bartender God’s Glass.”

I think it goes without saying that the story is a fun way to solve mysteries in a pop way, and the depth of each character is strong…The unique charm of this anime is the characters’ conversations that captivate you with their ever-changing facial expressions and dynamic actions. I think it’s in the play!
In particular, Reiko and Inspector Kazamatsuri are moving around excessively (lol). The dialogue will also be intense, so please look forward to it!

◆Enthusiasm for playing Reiko
Reiko’s expressions are rich, and both when she’s a young lady and when she’s working as a police officer in a suit, she’s very cute and fun to watch, so even when she’s acting, she’s a little outspoken and honest. I hope I can bring out the many charming aspects of her, such as reacting in a way that is not typical of a young lady.

◆What is the charm of Reiko, what was important to you while playing the role, and what was the atmosphere of the dubbing?
His inner voice when he’s with Inspector Kazamatsuri, the way he gets a little bad when he makes tsukkomi and complaints, and the way he gets angry when he realizes that Kageyama has made fun of him, are played well. That’s an interesting point!
And it’s always fun to talk to each other while recording while being surrounded by wonderful co-stars. Each role is high in calories, so I’m all exhausted after they’re done (lol)

◆What is the appeal of this work?
I feel that it is a very unique mystery work that is developed in a new yet somewhat nostalgic style. The contrast between the depth of the three main characters and the realistic atmosphere of the guests in each episode is exquisite!
The drama progresses at the most pleasant tempo. I hope you enjoy the unique interactions between Reiko and Kageyama, and Reiko and Kazamatsuri.

◆Enthusiasm for playing Kageyama
During the audition, I thoroughly searched within myself for the right amount of butler-likeness and poisonous tongue. When I received the notification that I had been accepted, I was so happy that I could feel my heart pounding.
…However, now that the recording has started, I am once again struggling with the high level of difficulty (lol). Kageyama is someone who won’t let you grab his tail anyway. No matter what I say, he’s such a man that Higashikawa-sensei told him, “I don’t really understand either” during the recording of the first episode! (lol).
So, although there is no right answer, I want to keep struggling until the very end so that I can embody the image that the director and all the staff have in mind, even if just a little. . …I’ll do my best to avoid falling into the labyrinth myself (lol)

◆What is the charm of Kageyama, what was important to you while playing the role, and what was the atmosphere of the dubbing?
People who think, “There’s probably no one like him! But he’s so addictive…” Normally, if you spoke like that to your employer, Lady Reiko, you would be fired immediately…but it seems like there is a relationship of trust that only the two of you can understand (though it may not exist).
One thing I can say is that Kageyama definitely enjoys playing with young ladies. So, he has decided that his role is to bring out the charm of the young lady to the fullest, and he is doing everything in the shadows (although he is very assertive).
Dubbing is super fun! It’s hard not to laugh every week at Mr. Miyano’s acting as Inspector Kazamatsuri. And there are times when I’m quietly fighting a desperate struggle with the frustration of “I really want to go wild like that!” (lol)

◆What is the appeal of this work?
I was very excited to hear that the masterpiece “The Mystery Solve After Dinner” was finally made into an anime. The animation has a good tempo and also includes plenty of comical expressions, so I think viewers will be able to enjoy a lot of new charm.

◆Enthusiasm for performing Kazamatsuri
Kyoichiro Kazamatsuri is an inspector at the National Police Station who has a strong sense of justice…but I would say he is a bit too self-promoting… Sometimes they make big claims, sometimes their reactions are intense, sometimes they brag a lot… In rushing the investigation, he ends up complicating the case…
Well, to put it simply, I’m a troublesome person (lol). But he’s also a cute person, so it’s hard to hate him!

◆What is the charm of Kazamatsuri, what was important to you after playing the role, and what was the atmosphere of the dubbing?
There are a lot of smart, cool, and comical reactions, so I try my best to maximize my excitement during the dubbing (lol). There are times when I’m the only one in the studio and I’m sweating (lol).
However, I can see that the cast and staff are happy, so I feel relieved (lol). So, the atmosphere on set is very good, so I’m sure everyone who sees the work will be able to feel that atmosphere, and I’m sure they’ll enjoy it, so please look forward to it!
